There they discover the Togrutas have been sold as slaves. After defeating the Separatist commander, they capture a smuggling ship and use it to infiltrate the planet Zygerria. When the Grand Army of the Republic invades the planet days later, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, are confronted with the mystery of the missing Togrutas. The people would be removed for their safety during the Clone Wars. The Confederacy of Independent Systems negotiated with the Togruta colonists on the planet Kiros. The story arc was later adapted in the Season Four episodes " Kidnapped," " Slaves of the Republic," and " Escape from Kadavo." The arc ran for six issues from Septemto May 13, 2009. The story was written by Henry Gilroy, the head writer for the first season of the television show. Slaves of the Republic was the first story arc of the comic series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
